Description

LV14 SULA is an extraordinary destination; the only historic Light Vessel (or 'Lightship') in the UK on which you can stay aboard! Moored in Gloucester Docks, the most inland port in Britain, in the famous Cotswolds, "SULA" has been beautifully restored and renovated by her new owners, the Brooks Family. The Humber Suite, named after the Humber Estuary where LV14 was operational for almost 30 years, accommodates up to 4 guests for the most unique and QUIRKY getaway!

The new guest suite features two luxurious cabins, a stylish kitchen-lounge-diner, spacious shower room, and the highlight - exclusive access to a private sun deck. The open plan kitchen is perfectly compact featuring everything you might need for a short stay, including an electric hob, microwave oven and fridge. Turn the old wheel locking mechanism on the door beside the cleverly extending dining table, and you can soak up the waterways atmosphere as you dine.

On the lower deck are two sumptuous cabins and a spacious shower room. The ‘59 Room, named after the year LV14 went into service, is the largest cabin with a downy king size bed. Guests get a particularly authentic ship experience in this cabin as the original wooden ladder that leads up to an escape hatch on the bow deck has been retained and restored.

The '85 Room, named after the year LV14 was retired from service, is a smaller cabin with a cosy double bed and a wonderfully warm ambience. Port holes to the starboard side allow a refreshing breeze and water-level views of the Gloucester Sharpness Canal. Both cabins have been carefully designed to accommodate bespoke wardrobes and a surprising amount of shelving space to unpack. A refreshment station, complete with welcome pack, means a morning cup of coffee is but a few steps away.

The shower room sits to the port side and boasts an indulgent double walk-in shower and beautifully upcycled vanity unit. Fluffy towels and eco-friendly toiletries are complimentary.

Climbing up to the Sun Deck, guests are treated to panoramic views of the historic docklands, Llanthony Priory and passing vessels. With anti-gravity recliners and woollen blankets, guests are able to watch the sun go down and enjoy the star-filled sky. Below, on the Bow Deck, guests get a true sense of SULA's history and scale as the bow inclines steeply and towers above their heads. Amongst the windlass and other restored features, is space for guests to store bikes, paddle boards and canoes.

Being moored at the heart of the city, the Gloucester Quays outlet shopping mall, street markets and restaurant quarter are just a towpath stroll away.

Parking is included for one vehicle. Other vehicles can be accommodated for a small fee. Complimentary WIFI is available in all rooms and the lounge TV offers Netflix, Freeview and an in-built DVD player. A Google Nest provides music and radio for guests to unwind.

Having been awarded the government 'Good to Go' award, guests are assured of a safe stay with exclusive access to The Humber Suite.
