An off grid and eco organic smallholding in the Parque Natural de Serra de Sao Mamede in Portugal, close to the Spanish border, offers guest accommodation in The River Lodge, Eco Cottage, The Glade or The Olive Grove.

The River Lodge sleeps 2 and has a wonderful wooden deck built overlooking the river. At night tuck up under canvas with your loved one to the sounds of tumbling water over the stones. There is a handy gas stove for light meals and coffee, a cob oven for grilling and BBQs. Enjoy your own private river pool with rocks for lounging on with a book. Private shower and compost loo.

€450 per week or €70 per night. Open from April until October with a 3 night minimum stay.

The Glade sleeps 4 and is the perfect retreat for families with a double bed and 2 single beds plus and interior lounge area and dining areas inside and out. Choose whether to use the gas stove or BBQ and keep drinks cool in the coolbox provided. Guests have acccess to a private shower and compost loo. Open the large shutters and if you are quiet enough you may get to experience the boars nightly visits.

The Olive Grove is a classic Mercedes 407D van which offers a cosy stay for 2 under the shade of a pear tree. Fully kitted out with its own solar system, firdge, shower plus cooking facilities this van offers the perfect retreat for those looking for something a little different.

€350 per week or €55 per night. Open from April until October with a 3 night minimum stay.

The Eco Cottage sleeps 2-4 and offers beautiful views from its elevated position. Once a goat milking palour and now with the help of a small solar system and wind turbine it has enough power for lighting and a laptop. Sitting half way up a hill along a stoney path and views stretching across to Spain, this property has a double bed plus 2 singles on a mezzanine level. The kitchen has a gas hob for the summer and wood fired range for winter cooking. A compost toilet hides in a woodshed and there is also an outdoor solar shower.

€450 per week or €70 per night. This property is available all year round with long term lets permitted.

Alternatively there is a 3 bedroom off grid house with spring water from the land fed into its taps.

Children are welcome. Please be aware that this property is remote and has rocky terrain so a reasonable level of fitness is necessary.

Enquire regarding workshops (traditional building techniques) or natural health retreats including wholesome, healthy and delicious meals for osteopathy, acupuncture and massage. There is a 70 square meter yoga deck and a community house where larger groups can be fed.
