Description
Unique 17th century cottage with thatched roof that was once the local grocery and sweet shop in the village now offers a countryside village retreat for up to eight people in the quietest and prettiest part of the old town area of Minehead.
The property effortlessly combines original features aplenty including wooden beams, a scorched wooden mantlepiece (from ancient hot toddies!) and mullioned windows with modern conveniences and furnishings. Downstairs there is a comfortable sitting room with wood burning stove plus a 50" TV with Sky and Netflix subscriptions. Children will enjoy playing with all the games and jigsaws whilst the adults can relax with their favourite box sets. The kitchen has a full range of high spec appliances including a range style dual fuel cooker and here you can also find the large oak table, which is a great place to catch up on the day's events over dinner. There is also a utility room with a WC on the ground floor.
There are four bathrooms in the house with a mixture of showers and bathtubs and the house is kept warm with central heating. There are two bedrooms on the groundfloor. All our bedrooms are named after favourite sweets. Downstairs are 'Strawberry Sherbet', a spacious double which also was the original shop. A window display adorns the window here which the team change with the seasons. This room uses the shower room in the utility room. Also is the king en-suite bedroom, 'Refresher', which has a comfy four-poster bed.
Upstairs there are two bedrooms with en-suites. There is a king size four poster bedroom called 'Marshmallow'. The en-suite here has a feature roll top bath which is a real favourite with visitors. Next door, 'Lemon Drop' is a pretty twin bedroom with a shower in the en-suite. This room can have the stairgate if needed for small ones. Two travel cots are also available if travelling with little ones, along with high chairs in the kitchen (please request upon booking).
Outside you can enjoy the large cottage style garden and relax in the bubbles of the large hot tub! Choose to sit back on one of the two terraces or enjoy the space of the summer house on those cooler days.
Locally you can take a stroll around the historical Church Steps, a local beauty spot. Wander down to Minehead town, with its many shops, cafes and restaurants, or head to the historical quayside and sandy beach. Trainspotters will love the vintage railway at the seafront. Don’t miss nearby Dunster village with its historical high street and many historical monuments, including the National Trust Castle and beautiful gardens. For day trips, we recommend Porlock village weir, or a trip on the breathtaking A39 to visit the Victorian villages of Lynton and Lynmouth with stunning views on the way. Hikers will love exploring the beautiful Exmoor National Park and the South West Coastal Path which starts at Minehead where you see the large hands holding the map.

FAQs
Yes we do but ask that you bring your own towels for the hot tub.
Is there a BBQ available? No we ask you to refrain from using a BBQ due to the thatched roofs around, the same goes for smoking.
Where can I park additional cars?We suggest you park on nearby Moor Road, which is a wide residential street. If you won't use your third car, Northfield Road and Clanville Road are better options for our neighbours who do use Moor Road daily.
