Description
River Kwai Jungle Rafts has been operating in Kanchanaburi since 1976. Therefore the floating accommodation is undoubtedly original. The hotel combines the beauty of authentic Mon culture and natural surroundings in which the historical river, River Kwai, runs under the hotel and vegetated mountain ranges on the two sides.
All guest rooms are floating on the River Kwai. They sleep 2-3 guests in a double or single beds and come with en-suite facilities. From your private terrace and balcony enjoy views of the river and mountains. Just straight from your room into the river for a fresh swim anytime of the day!
The hotel endeavours to conserve the environment, using oil lamps and candles instead of electricity, walls weaved from local bamboo and building the rafts from wood from dead trees. They hire local Mon people to work at the hotel. These people are an ethnic group who originate from Myanmar and are responsible for the spread of Theravada Buddhism. Elephants are used for heavy work but treated well.
There is also a floating restaurant and jungle bar. Many excursions are possible during your stay including elephant rides, trekking, fishing, rafting, cultural dance and visiting the Hellfire Pass Memorial Museum with information on the WWII prisoners of war and the building of Death Railway.
