Cosy shepherd's hut for 2+2 with ensuite shower and toilet, set in secluded woodland near to Beverley and stunning Yorkshire coastline.

The Quirky Tour

A delightful hut reached via a stroll through the snowdrop scattered slim tree woodland. Set away from the owner’s property and with a view out across fields, you have no near neighbours.
We loved the authentic feel of the hut and all the tasty extras left for us!
It is in a good position for the East Yorkshire coastline and market town of Beverley, plus a lovely Italian restaurant we walked to on our evening here.

Description

Take the path through the woods and discover ‘The Woodland Hut'. Nestling in a secluded clearing of peaceful woodland, the hut overlooks open fields and hedgerows. The woods are home to a variety of native birds and visited by rabbits, deer and pheasants. A barn owl often makes an appearance in the evenings and early morning, swooping silently in between the trees. Situated in the heart of Yorkshire's Nature Triangle, the hut is close to the stunning East Yorkshire coastline, the rolling hills of the Wolds and the historic towns of Beverley and York.

The cosy hut, which sleeps up to 2 adults, or a family of up to 2 adults with 2 small children, was handcrafted by Kevin Lordan at The Yorkshire Hut Company, using sustainable materials. The walls, inside and out, are lined with FSC accredited timber and insulated with sheep's wool. Double glazed windows and a wood burning stove keep the hut snug and warm. It has mains electricity and water.

The hut has a super comfy double bed, fitted with 100% cotton sheets and microfibre pillows and duvet. There is an additional three quarter-sized bunk bed above, suitable for up to two small children. The compact kitchen is well equipped and the en-suite shower room has a waterless composting toilet, electric shower, washbasin and fluffy bath and hand towels.

Relax in the Mexican hammock, gazing up at the magnificent, wide-open skies, or snuggle up by the wood burning stove inside the hut. Cook over the firebowl outside the Hut, or use the induction hob and microwave in the fully equipped kitchen. The Woodland Hut is the perfect getaway for people who want to be outdoors but also like the convenience of home comforts.

Whilst here be sure to take a trip to beach at Fraisthorpe, just 12 miles away. Here you can walk along the endless sandy stretch, all the way to Bridlington. Alternatively, Danes Dyke (20 miles away), offers a lovely nature reserve walk which leads down to yet another beach, this one with sand and chalk pebbles. After exploring, head to Beverley, where you can see its 13th century minster, visit the lively Saturday market, or explore the multitude of independent shops, historic pubs and great restaurants.

You will receive a hamper of local produce, eggs from our own hens, luxury bedding, towels and eco skincare products and an unlimited supply of firewood and charcoal (all included in the price below).

Prices range from £107-£127 per night for the first two nights (two nights minimum stay) and reduced rates for additional nights.

No pets are allowed. No smoking in the hut.

Eco Credentials:

The Woodland hut was hand crafted by The Yorkshire Hut Company, using traditional techniques and sustainable materials. All the timber is FSC accredited and the wheels are made from recycled brake discs. The hut is insulated with sheep’s wool and is fitted with Argon filled, double glazed windows and a wood -burning stove. It has mains water and renewable electricity provided by Ecotricity.

Water is heated as required by an efficient electric water heater. Water efficient taps and a shower have been installed. There is super energy efficient LED lighting.

Our hut has a state of the art waterless, composting toilet. An integrated fan draws air to an outside vent, eliminating odours and speeding up composting. A Hot Bin completes the process and the compost is used in our garden. There is a soak-away for grey water and eco cleaning and washing up products are supplied.

The wood we provide for the stove and firebowl is well seasoned and locally sourced. We also supply locally sourced Yorkshire charcoal.

Steps have been taken to encourage biodiversity around the hut with a small woodland allowing native species to flourish.
