Description
HORSEDRAWN HOLIDAYS ARE SEASONAL - APRIL - OCTOBER
Wanderlusts gypsy caravan holidays are a unique way to enjoy an adventure holiday. Travel in a traditional horse drawn bow top gypsy caravan (vardo). If you are looking for a relaxing place to stay with an adventure along the way, to be surrounded by the peaceful and charming countryside of Cumbria and slow down to the easy pace of the gentle giants, Bob and Charlie.
The caravan holiday is set up for up to 4 guests, but extras can come along if on foot.
Meet up with Wanderlusts at one of their beautiful and secluded private camps or at a country pub where you can leave and forget about your car for a few days. A hot tub can be added to the experience for extra cost.
You’ll have the opportunity to take the reigns and drive the horse and wagon along quiet country roads after some instructions, but there will always be someone near to hand to help so no need for any experience or worries.
Go from one beautiful camp to the next. Wanderlusts set you up with a fire and all you need before leaving you for the night to enjoy your privacy, nature and adventure holiday. Enjoy the Cumbrian and Lake District scenery.
The Gypsy Caravan is mostly made of wood, lined on the inside with a warm and regal fabric , then a layer of felted wool insulation and covered in traditional canvas, the wood work has quite a lot of carving, not only for beauty, but this also reduces the weight dramatically, which makes a big difference to the horses when pulling!! There is a double bed (with bedding) plus 2 small fold out child's beds, gas hob, kettle fry pan pots cups plates cutlery, wash bowl, cupboards, bay window and stable door. A water container and a small stick burning stove to make it really cosy! Also there is a bike rack for two bikes as you may want to bring bikes and either ride for some of the journey or explore the surrounding countryside and lanes.
Horse and cart part of whole day trips can take groups of up to 8 along scenic and peaceful country lanes to a selection of destinations. Pack pony and wild camping walking holidays can also be arranged. Weddings and other events can be catered to. Katus can sing around the campfire and even bring you dinner and a bottle of wine. For larger occasions she and a band can perform on a cart.
Horse drawn gypsy caravan holidays are from £600 for 3 nights and £800 for 4 nights for up to 4 people with a 3 night weekend from Friday or 4 night mid week stay from Monday.
The regular trip is for up to 4 people, but if adding extra guests at £30 each / £10 per tent per night it is possible to bring extra guests along. You can discuss the details with Barny once you agree to book (pre securing with payment).
Horsedrawn day trips may be possible at quieter times for £200 for 4 people and £30 per additional person.
