Day 3 of The Quirky Tour and Jess and Dom enjoyed a stay at the House of Round in Devon.

Find out more about their visit:

First Impression:

This gorgeous property is located in a woodland so bring your wellies! We received a friendly welcome from the owners Ian and his daughter Kiba, who have worked with QuirkyAccom exclusively since opening in the autumn of 2021.

We walked to The House of Round with Kiba along a woodland track while Ian took our bags for us.

The fire was lit and the place warm for our arrival as they showed us around. Then they left us to enjoy it.

The Accommodation:

The accommodation is open plan with one main room with a comfy sofa and a breakfast bar / kitchenette.

Here you have enough to cook a simple meal with one induction hob, a microwave, sink with instant boiling tap and fridge freezer with cold water tap.

The main focus of the room is the amazing fireplace - in winter anyway - which efficiently heated the whole place so much that we were in t-shirts.

There is a boxed bedroom off the main living area which was comfortable and far more pleasant than the picture may suggest. There is also a shower room off the sitting room.

Outside you can relax on the deck with its powerful hot tub, seating and romantic fairy lights. Another seating area nearby has a wood burner for cosy evenings.

The deck is south facing and although we didn’t see the sun we enjoyed time in the hot tub here, with music playing outside thanks to the high speed internet.

This property really is ideal for all year round use with lovely outside space for the summer months and a romantic interior where you can get cosy on wintry nights.

Food and Drink:

The owners leave a lovely romantic gift for you (I won't say what it is and spoil it) plus tea, coffee and a small bottle of milk.

You can bring your own food to cook or head out to the local Glebe House hotel for dinner or to the Hare and Hounds traditional pub, just a short 15 minute drive away. Here you can enjoy a pint in their sunny beer garden.

Jess' top tip:

Whilst here be sure to enjoy walks amidst the 50 acres of woodland in which the House of Round sits.

Alternatively, head to the coast at Sidmouth and enjoy a stroll along the Victorian beachfront or take a ride on the Seaton tramway. We enjoyed a coffee in Dukes Pub in Sidmouth where we could watch the waves roll in.
