Day 30 of The Quirky Tour and Jess and Dom enjoyed a visit to Mountain Lodges in Perthshire & Kinross, Sotland.
Find out more about their visit:
First Impression:
There are 4 different cabins on site that offer different stays. The general interior of the cabins has a full set up for a comfortable self catering stay.
You can sink into the sofa and watch TV after a busy day in the mountains and cook a full meal in the well equipped kitchen.
The views are impressive and a dip in the hot tub (or sauna) will ward off the chilly mountain air. The differences between them are as follows:
Scotsview - Log cabin for 2 with hot tub and sauna
Cragdhu - Log cabin for a group of 4/5 with hot tub and sauna
Clashmore - Dog friendly cabin with hot tub for 4 people
Benearb - Dog friendly cabin for 2 with a hot tub and sauna
The Accommodation:
Interiors here are practical and comfortable with a wood finish. There is central heating to keep you warm and toasty too, perfect for the colder seasons.
Choose from a romantic cabin for 2 or a family sized cabin for up to 5 guests.
Outside you can relax in your private hot tub taking in the stunning mountain views or fire up the BBQ for a delicious feast al fresco.
Three of the four lodges also have their own private sauna, ideal for relaxing those muscles after a long day exploring.
You can park alongside your cabin which is convenient for bringing in all your personal items and shopping!
Food and Drink:
Bring what you need with you so you can self cater. There is a hotel a mile away which has a restaurant and bar.
At present a local cafe/bar within walking distance is closed for refurbishment but will hopefully open up again soon.
Jess' top tip:
We really enjoyed our skiing session at the Glenshee Ski Centre - it was so much fun! You can also try your hand at snowboarding here and there are cafes for warming drinks afterwards.
If you prefer to keep your feet firmly on the ground then the Cateran Trail is a fully waymarked 64 mile route that can be broken down into 5 stages, an ideal way to see the beauty of the locality.
Alternatively Balmoral Castle and Royal Deeside are just a 45 minutes drive away.
