Day 16 of The Quirky Tour and Jess and Dom enjoyed a visit to The Chestnut Cabin in Carmarthenshire.

First Impression:
The Chestnut Cabin offers a good space to cook, eat, sleep…and relax. Back to nature experience to the soundtrack of bird song.
Great to meet the owners after working with them since 2018. Their charity ethos is very much aligned with that of QuirkyAccom.
The Accommodation:
The cabin has 2 bedrooms and a shower room to one end. One bedroom has a double bunk with single above which means this space works for a family, or 1 or 2 couples. There is no TV or Wifi so this is a great place to come to avoid the screens for a while!
The other end is the living space and full kitchen with dining area - a great place to enjoy a delicious meal.
The outdoor space has furniture, a pizza oven and a jacuzzi hot tub ready for your arrival. Whilst here you can watch and listen to the friendly birds at the bird table.
Enjoy walks through the woodland, from where you can pick up a footpath to explore the area further.
Food and Drink:
Be sure to bring all food and drink with you, not forgetting pizza ingredients for the pizza oven! You can request a hot chocolate/marshmallow roasting package as an extra for a cosy time around the fire.
If you wish to eat out then the owners recommend the Fox and Hounds in Bancyfelin for a pub meal and have many other recommendations that they are happy to share with you.
Jess' top tip:
We really enjoyed exploring the Woodland Walk below the property. This has the added intrigue of having hidden creatures for you to find.
We did this twice and still couldn't find them all! It was very addictive and it was a lovely wild walk too. I am sure children would really enjoy it.
If you can tear yourself away from this tranquil spot then Laugharne is a popular castle town where Dylan Thomas lived, wrote and is buried.
There are also lots of great beaches within a 30 minute drive.
