Day 6 of The Quirky Tour and Jess and Dom enjoyed a visit to the The Owl Nest in Cornwall.
Find out more about their visit:
First Impression:
Photos don’t do this justice.
The treehouse cabin is set away from the owners house and would be a great base to explore the area and a nice place to hang out.
Lovely owner Sarah and husband Mike have made this a unique place to stay with plenty of outdoor space to enjoy. Sarah is a bird handler so you have the chance to meet the birds of prey and owls she keeps and you can watch a webcam owl nest from the property. We have worked with them since opening for guests in 2021.
The Accommodation:
The main room has seating than can fold out into beds for 2 extra guests, a dining table and chairs next to a large viewing window, the ideal place to have breakfast which you can make using the supplied toaster and kettle. There is also a small fridge.
The main bedroom area is up a ladder on the mezzanine level.
The lighting adds charm to the property and the windows can be blacked out to allow for a good night's sleep. An electric fire keeps the cabin warm and toasty.
Outside you can make a firepit in a large old paella dish and play ping pong or croquet on the lawn.
A newly built shower and toilet are a few paces away.
Food and Drink:
The owners supply tea, coffee, milk and orange juice plus a tasty treat of fudge and chocolate! (As well as some luscious organic Trevarno skincare toiletries!)
You can cook food al fresco on the beer keg BBQ or takeaways can be delivered to the door.
Its a 15 minute walk into the village of Lostwithiel or a short drive if you prefer. Here there are a range of restaurants and a small supermarket.
Jess' top tip:
Book a session with the birds of prey for a unique experience you won't forget!
Be sure to bring wellies in wet weather as the cabin is accessed across a lawn and set in a woodland area.
