Day 8 of The Quirky Tour and Jess and Dom enjoyed a visit to Weavers Yurt in Devon.
Find out more about their visit:
First Impression:
You arrive at the country home of the owner, park up and take a side path to reach your own welcoming area where you immediately forget that the owners house is there at all. Apart from arrival and leaving you do not see the house.
Created in the last couple of years the lovely owners - Olivia and Grant, have worked hard to make Weavers Yurt a special camp with plenty to occupy their guests.
The Accommodation:
Inside the yurt there is a double bed and a single with another underneath if required. It’s all very cosy, colourful and appealing.
It is covered for year round use and has a woodburner and electric blankets to ensure you stay lovely and warm all year round.
There is a separate building with kitchen and shower room, plus a compost loo alongside the yurt too.
The outdoor living space is lovely with a sauna, stream with mini island, al fresco shower and sun deck.
There's also a large covered firepit area with seating and a hammock plus another firepit for stargazing around. If the weather is wet, be sure to bring wellies for this space!
Food and Drink:
The owners leave you some tea and coffee plus some eggs from their hens.
If you're looking to eat out then they recommend The Drewe Arms in Broadhembury, which is just a short 5 minute drive away or a 35 minute walk through fields and along country lanes.
The yurt is self catering so be sure to bring food with you. There is a supermarket in Cullompton, a 10 minute drive away if needed.
Jess' top tip:
Be sure to bring wellies for a splash in the river! Take a stroll to the beautiful rhododendron woodland where you can enjoy a lovely walk. This can be reached on foot, or a short distance in the car, and you could pass a lovely hour there.
